Hypnos was based in 1999 by ex-members of Krabathor bass guitarist and singer Bronislav "Bruno" Kovařík and drummer Peter "Pegas" Hlaváč. Name of the band is inspired by the same named song by Austrian legend Pungent Stench. Later that year guitarist Radek "RAD" Lebánek joined the band and they were ready to record first EP called Hypnos.

Hypnos started to work on the new songmaterial immediatelly and after 3 rehearsals they entered the famous Exponent studio in Hlohovec /Slovakia/ to do the first studio records together with sound engineers Tomas Kmet and Roman Slavik. During two days in December 1999 4 songs has been recorded: Infernational, Infernational, In Blood We Trust and a killer coverversion of the mighty Italian band of the eighties Bulldozer, namely the song The Cave taken from the album The Final Separation /1986/.
